About Scotland Clothes!
Started in a wee shop. Now reaching people everywhere.
Back in 2012 we opened a small kilt shop in Scotland with one straightforward idea: make kilts that people actually want to wear, not just ones that look good sitting on a rail. Every order was custom from day one. Built to the customer's measurements. Using proper materials. No shortcuts.
That approach built us a reputation we are genuinely proud of. The range grew over the years to cover everything from wool tartan kilts for formal occasions through to canvas utility kilts for everyday wear, leather kilts for festivals and full Highland dress outfits for weddings. Sporrans, belts, kilt pins, ghillie shoes, tartan waistcoats — everything designed to work together rather than look like five separate purchases.
In 2024 we finally went online. Honestly we should have done it sooner. For years we had people calling from Canada, America, Australia, New Zealand — folk with Scottish roots who wanted something real and could not find it near them. Now they can find us. Same work, same standards, just a wider door.

Why Choose us
Why Buy From Scotland Clothes?
Twelve years of making kilts teaches you what matters. Fit matters. Material matters. Getting the details right so the whole outfit looks like it belongs together rather than like five separate things bought from five different places.
Every kilt we make is built to your measurements — not to a generic size chart, not to whatever we happen to have in stock. You give us your numbers and we build around them. It sounds simple because it is, but a lot of places do not bother and it shows the moment someone puts the kilt on.
We carry over 1000 tartan fabrics. Whether you are after a classic tartan kilt, a practical utility kilt for daily wear or a complete kilt outfit for a wedding, we have what you need. Custom tailoring, worldwide shipping, 15-day returns.

GOT QUESTIONS?
Everything you need to know before you order. More detail on our full FAQs page.
Do you actually make each kilt to order or is that just marketing?
It is not marketing. Every single kilt we sell is built from scratch to the measurements you provide when you order. We do not hold stock in standard sizes and send out the nearest fit. You give us your natural waist measurement and your kilt length, and we build the garment around those numbers. It is how we have worked since 2012 and it is the reason people come back.
How do I measure myself for a kilt?
Two measurements. First, your natural waist — the narrowest part of your torso, roughly two inches above your belly button. Not your hip like trousers sit, significantly higher than that. Second, your kilt length — from your natural waist straight down to the centre of your kneecap. That is where a kilt should fall. Both measurements in inches or centimetres are fine. We have a step-by-step kilt size guide on the site if you want diagrams.
How long does delivery take?
Standard delivery for a custom order is 12 to 17 days depending on where you are in the world and how complex the order is. We also offer rush processing if you need something sooner — that costs an additional £20 and gets your order processed within 2 days, then delivered within 7 to 9 days. The build time is real either way. Every kilt is made by hand and we do not rush the craftsmanship regardless of the shipping speed.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, everywhere. Scotland, England, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Germany — we have customers all over. Shipping costs and estimated delivery times are calculated at checkout based on your location. We use trusted couriers for international orders. The whole reason we went online in 2024 was to reach the people who had been calling us from abroad for years and could not easily get to our shop.
What if the kilt does not fit when it arrives?
If the kilt does not fit because we got something wrong on our end, we replace it at no cost to you — no argument, no fuss. If the measurements you provided turn out to be off, you can still request an exchange though a £20 shipping fee applies. Either way, contact us within 7 days of receiving your order and we will sort it. We genuinely want the kilt to fit properly. That is the whole reason we build them to order.
Can I order a full Scottish outfit, not just the kilt?
Yes. We carry complete kilt outfits — Argyle and Prince Charlie options that include the kilt, jacket and accessories all matched together. You can also build your own from individual pieces: jackets, tartan waistcoats, ghillie shirts, sporrans, belts, kilt pins, hose, flashes, shoes. Everything in our range is designed to work together so you do not end up with pieces that clash. Browse the Kilt Jackets and Outfits menu at the top for the full picture.
How many types of kilts do you carry?
Over a hundred types across men's, women's and kids' categories. Tartan kilts, utility kilts, leather kilts, wedding kilts, formal kilts, great kilts, tactical kilts, cargo kilts, gothic kilts, hiking kilts and more. We also carry over 1000 individual tartan fabrics, so if you are after a specific clan or regional tartan there is a strong chance we have it. Use the Kilts menu to browse everything.
What is your refund policy?
Refunds are available on defective or damaged items reported within 5 days of delivery. Because every garment is custom made to your specification we cannot accept returns for change of mind — a kilt built to your measurements cannot easily be resold. If something arrives wrong or faulty we will sort it. Contact us immediately and we will not leave you stuck. Full details are in our return and refund policy.
How do I care for my kilt?
Wool kilts: dry clean or hand wash very gently in cold water. Never machine wash wool or you will shrink it and ruin the pleats. Cotton and poly-viscose kilts can go in the machine on a cool gentle cycle. Leather kilts need a good leather conditioner every few months and should stay away from direct moisture. All styles: hang to store, never fold through the pleats, iron on low heat with a pressing cloth if needed. A well-looked-after kilt lasts many years.
